Cover-queen Carrom
Cover-queen Carrom on First Games is the board where pocketing the queen does nothing for score until you cover her with a follow-up coin of your colour. If you fail the cover, the queen returns. This page is that flip. It is not queen-first, where the queen can pay on the way in. Ordinary hub Carrom may mention a cover; this file is the room that lives or dies on which strike is the cover.
What this play is
This play is carrom with a delayed queen. First Games still uses a striker, colours, and pockets. The unique law is that the red coin is held, not scored, until the cover strike succeeds. The job is to pocket the queen, then immediately (or within the printed window) pocket one of your coins as the cover. It is not queen-first, which awards extra for getting the queen early and may soften the cover. It is not a Ludo home column. If the queen scores the moment she falls, you opened the other flip.
What the table shows
The board looks like hub Carrom. The room card prints entry, 2-seat or 4-seat, clock if any, and the cover window: same turn extra strikes only, or the next strike you take, or before the opponent’s next pocket. It also prints where an uncovered queen returns — usually the centre. Seats follow the hub: 2-seat aims at four pockets, 4-seat aims from one side. Doubles pairing, if present, still needs a cover for the pair. Fee and seats stay on the card.
How you win this round
You win by clearing your coins with a counted queen, meaning a queen that was covered, or by points that include that covered queen, as the card totals. An uncovered queen sitting in a pocket in the art is not yet yours. If the opponent covers first and clears, they win even if you pocketed the queen earlier and lost her back to the centre. The counted queen is required on rooms that demand her; some rooms let you clear without her if she is still in the centre, but a held uncovered queen is never a win. Read whether she is mandatory.
How a round starts
Pack and break as hub Carrom. The queen is in the middle of the pack. A break that accidentally pockets the queen starts the cover window immediately; you must cover with a colour coin on a legal extra strike, or she returns. A break that pockets a colour coin without the queen is an ordinary extra strike. Opening is the most common time people pocket the queen by luck and then foul the cover because the pack is still messy.
Legal moves — and one that is not
Pocketing the queen is legal. The next legal cover is pocketing your colour while the queen is in the holding state, without fouling. That cover strike is the unique legal extra. Pocketing two colour coins after the queen, if the first of them was the cover, continues as ordinary extras. A cover that also pockets the striker is a foul, not a cover, unless the card has a rare exception.
It is not legal to claim the queen because she fell. Without the cover she is not yours. It is not legal to cover with an opponent coin. It is not legal to cover on the opponent’s turn. It is not legal to leave the queen in the pocket and take a slow aim that lets the window close. Playing queen-first, and treating the fall as extra score already in the bag, is the rejected mindset. If the window closes, she returns; arguing that you ‘already had her’ does not stop the return.
How this round ends
The board ends on a legal clear that includes a covered queen if the card requires her, or on points after the cover has been applied. A last-coin pocket that forgets an uncovered queen in holding will not finish; the app will demand the cover or return her and continue. Finish is the counted state, not the pretty red in the hole.
How the money is counted
Covered queen adds the queen value the card prints, plus your coins. Uncovered queen adds zero and then leaves the hole. Example only: ₹20 sit, two seats, you cover and clear, strip pays ₹36 after the printed charge. Do not copy a club 50-point queen if this card shows another value. Queen-first’s extra-on-early-queen is not applied here. Wallet follows the strip after cover resolution.
If you leave early or miss the tap
Failed cover is the unique penalty: queen returns to the printed spot, usually centre, and you do not get her value. Fouls during the cover window usually fail the cover as well. Leave Seat while the queen is in holding loses her with the board. Clock miss on the cover strike is often a failed cover. No rummy drop. The penalty is the return, which can hand the queen to the opponent’s later strike.
Buttons on this screen
- Place striker — Same groove as hub Carrom. Re-place even when you are hurrying to cover.
- Strike — The flick. After a queen pocket, the next legal extra is the cover attempt.
- Holding queen — A banner that the queen is pocketed but not scored until cover.
- Cover light — Turns the holding banner into a scored queen when your colour falls cleanly.
- Return — Puts the queen back on the printed spot if the window fails.
How to open it in First Games
- Open the Telegram channel t.me/cocorummy and download the APK posted there. Do not use a random file from search.
- Install on Android and finish mobile OTP.
- Tap the Skill tab, open the Carrom tile, then sit a cover-queen room and read which strike counts as the cover.
Do not mix this up with Queen-first Carrom
Queen-first Carrom pays extra if the queen pockets first, and the cover may be softer or still required as that page says. Cover-queen does not pay for the fall. It pays for the cover. If you sit this room and wait for an early-queen bonus, you will not see it. If you sit queen-first and leave her uncovered because this page taught you she always returns, read that other card; the flips are not the same.
One round, start to finish
2-seat, ₹20, cover must be your next extra strike, uncover returns to centre. You break, queen falls with two whites, striker stays. Holding banner on. First extra must be a white; you pocket a white, cover light on, queen now counts. You miss the following extra. Opponent later would have needed the same cover if they had taken the queen. You clear remaining whites. Strip pays with queen value included. If that cover white had been a foul with the striker, the queen would have gone back to centre and the two whites from the break might have returned as the foul rule printed.
Which strike is the cover
The cover is the first legal pocket of your colour after the queen goes into holding, on your extra strikes, within the window the room card prints. It is not the queen strike itself. It is not an opponent coin. It is not a foul that happens to drop a white with the striker. It is not a pocket two turns later if the window was ‘next extra only’. First Games will label the extra as Cover if that seat is strict. People pocket the queen and a white on the same flick; some cards treat that white as the cover on the same strike, and some cards say the queen and the cover cannot be the same flick. That same-strike line is on the card. This unique question is which flick the app will count, not whether covers exist in carrom folklore. If the banner still says holding after a white fell, that white was not accepted as cover — usually because a foul flag sat on the same flick. Strike again only if extras remain. Otherwise the window is already dying.
Where the queen returns if uncovered
She returns to the printed spot, almost always the centre circle, not to your baseline, not off the board, not into the opponent’s pocket. Coins already packed in the centre may be nudged as the app places her. She is live again. Anyone may pocket her next, and they will then owe their own cover. A queen that returned is not half-scored. She is fully un-scored. If a foul also returned some of your coins, those coins come back too, which can bury the queen again. Queen-first rooms may keep her in the hole for value even without a cover; this room does not. Watch the return animation before you aim at something else. Playing on as if she were still yours is how you ‘clear’ and then lose because the counted state never included her. The return is the whole punishment. There is no extra wallet fine for a failed cover unless the card prints one, and most will not.
When does the queen count on this room?
After a legal cover pocket of your colour within the printed window. The fall alone does not score her.
How is a covered queen paid?
Queen value on the card plus your coins, in the pot the result strip shows. An uncovered queen adds zero.
Is this queen-first?
No. Queen-first can pay extra for an early queen pocket. Cover-queen pays only after the cover, and a failed cover returns her.
What is the easy mistake after the queen falls?
Celebrating and aiming slowly, or fouling the striker on the cover flick. The holding banner is not a score yet.
